The Making of Carved Snake Stick 55

Here’s a video of my work in progress of the Massasauga Rattlesnake walking cane; hand carved out of a single piece of wood.

Wood Carved Massasauga Rattlesnake Walking stick #54

Here’s my latest carving. This one is a Massasauga Rattle Snake. I carved it from a piece of naturally crooked pine.

Rattlesnake “Ready to Strike” Cane

I was able to get creative with the shape on this snake cane.  I used a larger piece of naturally crooked pine which gave me the space I needed to put the snake’s head in a striking position.  I will show the process of making it in an upcoming video.

I Just finished this Rattlesnake walking cane.  With his chin resting on the handle, he appears to be a guardian, ready to strike.  He’s hand carved out of one solid piece of wood and then hand painted.

Copperhead Wrapped Walking Cane #36

Hand-carved Copperhead Cane; made from a single piece of wood and Hand-painted.  I really like the color pattern and the plate scales on the heads of these snakes.  This guy definitely has a “don’t tread on me” look in his eye!

I have finished carving this copperhead walking cane.  I have applied a stain to bring out the wood grain.  The next step will be painting the snake, itself.
