Eastern King Snake Walking Stick

I carved this King Snake and White Oak branch with it’s leaves all out of a single piece of wood.  It was a real challenge to bring all the leaves and stems together onto one branch.

  1. Your artistic carving talent is beyond belief. Beautiful walking stick. How many hours do you think you have on this project? If I may ask.

  2. Fantastic I couldn’t be happier. The only problem is that too many people stop me when I’m hiking to learn about the carving.
    Thanks Mike

    • Thank you, Sterling! I’m laughing about that! It must be hard to get your exercise, when your always leaning on your stick and explaining stuff! haha! I’m really happy that you are pleased with your stick though!

  3. Very impressive! I’ve had Eastern Kings as pets in the past and this walking stick looks exactly as a live one. You’re quite an artist, keep up the great work!

  4. Wow Mike – That is one beautiful piece of carving! Was this a pre-order (guessing so) – It’s so anazing I’d be tempted to buy it on the spot if it was available! The leaves and acorns look great, and the king Snake – Stunning! – it opens up even more possibilities for future projects. I think that we’re both still a bit nervous at the prospect of any further shipping damage, but then, my first stick came through perfectly – so it’s probably just bad luck. Seeing this King Snake stick has fired my enthusiasm up all over again for your work, so if you’re still up for another go, I’ll have a good think about a suitable subject.

Best Wishes to you, Brenda and the family,

    Andrew

    • Thank you, Andrew! Yes, this was a custom order.I really enjoyed making the oak leaves and acorn. It was a mind-boggling challenge. Maybe on a future project we could carve a display sculpture rather than a stick? That might be safer to ship. I look forward to discussing the details with you.
All the Best to you and Jane!

I want you to know that your king snake and oak branch walking stick is one of the most beautiful pieces of carving I have ever seen! It’s magnificent!
