Copperhead Snake Cane- Ready for scales

Now that I have finished defining the basic shapes of this wooden Copperhead walking cane, I will move on to detailing the scales.  I have already begun to carve the unique scale pattern on top of the snakes head.  I am enjoying the challenge of carving a different type of snake.

  1. After a perusal of your posts I can see you make each stick out of one piece of wood. I thought you had found a stick that had grown with a vine around it and I thought it was finished. With such precise painting skills and combined with your carving ability your sticks are amazing sculpture with a beautiful painting on them. What came first for you; painting or carving?
