I am very interested in purchasing one of your #45 copperhead masterpieces. However, instead of a knob head walking stick I would prefer a curve handle cane. Is this possible? I have required a cane for almost twenty-five years due to an accident. I have a small collection and am always looking for something unique. One of yours would certainly be the jewel of my collection. You must certainly have a God given gift to produce such amazing examples of nature. What is the procedure to order one of your remarkable beauties?

Mike, I live in Springfield, MO. Can you offer me any advice on what type of wood I can use for walking sticks or how to obtain the wood you are using? Thanks, and the work you do is amazing!!!
Thanks, John! I mostly use lodgepole pine. I don’t think you have any of that growing in MO. You might be able to go to the lumber yard and buy a clear cedar 4×4 post. That will make a good light-weight walking stick. I know that MO has a huge amount of hardwoods which would make really good walking sticks. What I would do is harvest it after the leaves fall and rough out the shape I want while it is still green, and then let it cure before finishing it. At least this way you’ll have most of the work done while it’s green and easier to carve. I know there is juniper growing there also. It’s good wood if you can find something straight enough and the right diameter.

Excellent work. I carved an Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake walking stick and then came across your snake walking sticks on the web. Your carvings are really at a higher level. I appreciate not only the carving but the scale work and the painting are very realistic. One of challenges is getting the scale pattern precise to maintain the color pattern on the snake. Outstanding work.

My grandfather had a similar snake walking stick I remember as a child. It wasn’t nearly as nice as yours. It was promised to me when he was called home but somehow I never recieved it.
